APRIL has been a very busy month for one of the NAAC Seniors members in particular.

Angela Reid started off the month by travelling South of the Border to take part in the stunning Kielder 50K Ultra Marathon on April 8. taking home the prize for first lady in a time of 4:43.

The following weekend, in preparation for the Highland Fling at the end of the month, she embarked on a training weekend on the West Highland Way covering from Milngavie to Inversnaid, across Conic Hill (34 miles) on the Saturday and then back the slightly shorter route (30 miles) on the Sunday.

On Sunday, April 23, Angela then travelled that bit further South of the Border to London to take up her Championship place in representing the club at the fantastic Virgin London Marathon. She was delighted to finish the course in a respectable time of 3:17:55, within the top 11% of finishers.

As if that wasn't enough for the month, she then joined some of her fellow club mates six days later in taking on the massive 53 mile challenge of the Highland Fling, starting at Milngavie and finishing off on the red carpet at Tyndrum. All five team-mates tackled the tough course which is made up of 90% trail and 10% road, a trip over Conic Hill, some technical sections between Inversnaid and Beinglas and Cow Pat Alley on the last leg of the journey.

Angela completed the epic race in a time of 9:59:30 in position of 12th lady.

She was followed by Alasdair McCallum, Gareth Brown and Joanne Pitt (11:38). Unfortunately Morag Logan was timed out after 41 miles and 12 hours of running, but looking to return next year to complete it.
