IRVINE began their Western Union First Division campaign with a comfortable victory against Stenhousemuir at Marress.
The home side batted first and were 116 all out. Inderjeeg Singh top-scored with 50 and South African amateurs Jonathan Wasp and Brandon Harwood contributed 23. Wasp and Singh put on a partnership of 58 runs.
In reply, Stenny were 86 all out, giving the hosts a 30-run victory.
Singh completed a great all-round performance with three wickets, while Jonathan Hume also took three and Harwood and Deepak Yadav took a wicket apiece. There was also a run out.
Skipper Rafay Ashraf said: "It was a good way to start the league and we are aiming for a top-three finish."
Irvine on Saturday host Renfrew, the game getting underway at noon.
