A TRIO of North Ayrshire teenagers from a Kilwinning youth football team are celebrating their first Scotland call-up.

KSC Barca players Jay McManus (15), Robbie Lynch (14) and Lewis Gunn (15) played for the Scotland Under-15s squad against Wales.

Jay attends Ardrossan Academy, Robbie is at Kilwinning Academy and Lewis is a Greenwood Academy pupil.

They have played together at KSC Barca for the past four years and had to go through several trial matches. This saw them play at Kilwinning, Kinross and Crieff as part of the process of selection for the Scotland squad.

Although the Scots went down 2-0 to Wales in the challenge match, which was organised by the Boys and Girls Clubs of Scotland, they nonetheless enjoyed the experience with the capping ceremony held in the Beach Ballroom later that night.

The Scotland side are coached by John Murphy and Joe Hughes, while Mark Lynch and Colin Gunn are in charge of KSC Barca.

Jay's dad Jason said: "The boys really enjoyed the experience and it was an honour to be capped. It's just unfortunate they lost the match."
