SHETTLESTON 3

IRVINE VICTORIA 4

IMPRESSIVE Vics chalked up only their fourth win of the season after edging a seven-goal thriller at Greenfield Park.

The action was delayed for 15 minutes after the pitch had been declared unplayable following a monsoon-like downpour. However both teams cleared the park by brushing the lines so the action could go ahead.

The home side began well and in 21 minutes Kevin Adam was brought down inside the box and the same player dusted himself down to net from the penalty spot.

However three minutes later the hosts drew level when a shot took an unfortunate bounce off goalkeeper George Scott and spun into the net.

Then four minutes from half-time the visitors were back in front again when veteran striker Bryan Slavin powerfully headed home a free-kick from Callum Davidson.

Ten minutes after the break, parity was restored as the home striker shot home from close range after Scott had saved his first effort.

Then 15 minutes from time Sean Mears set up Kieran Hollis and he swung over a cross to trialist midfielder Dylan Hamilton, who sent home a superb diving header.

In 85 minutes the Glasgow team equalised for a third time when a home player netted with a header, despite Scott getting a hand to the ball.

However right on full-time Vics snatched all three points when Slavin played in Jordan Craig, who had made a run and he squared to Adam, with the striker rolling the ball into the net for his second goal of the afternoon.

IRVINE VICTORIA: Scott; Mears, Anderson, Young, Bonner, Craig, Davidson, Trialist, Slavin, Hollis, Adam. Subs: Bolton, Lamb, Singleton, Ablorh.

IRVINE MEADOW 2

YOKER ATHLETIC 1

MEADOW put what has been a trying week behind them by seeing off the visitors to avenge defeat at their hands in Glasgow on April 8.

It has been a testing time after co-boss Gareth Turner and coach Neil McGowan announced they were stepping down at the end of the season owing to work commitments.

However it was business as usual as the players took the field at a rain-soaked Meadow Park.

The visitors began well and in 35 minutes they took the lead when Ryan Begley powerfully headed home a Ben Carson corner-kick at the front post.

Then in 53 minutes Medda were awarded a penalty-kick and Carson sent the Yoker goalie the wrong way from the spot.

Yoker then came back into the game an pulled a goal back with a shot from the edge of the penalty box in 68 minutes.

However Meadow held on and deservedly secured all three points.

IRVINE MEADOW: Newman; Hannah, McLennan, Strachan, Begley, Carson, Black, Muir, Cripps, Young, Willet. Subs: Browning, Mearns, Boyd, Turner, Purdie.
