Killearn 10k Trail Race
IRVINE Running Club's Paul Lafferty continued his rich vein of form when finishing in a fine fifth position at the Killearn 10k trail race on Saturday.
This scenic Stirlingshire route is multi-terrain with a mixture of tarmac, forest path, farm track and open grassland and the race started from the village’s War Memorial before heading out onto the historic pipe track, following along the foothills of Dumgoyne, returning back to finish in the park.
Conditions on the day were warm and a time of 38 minutes 56 seconds was a good return for Paul’s efforts.
Eglinton Parkrun
FOR a second weekend running, Saturday morning’s Parkrun was held in warm conditions as the runners made their way round the trails of Eglinton Park.
First Irvine runner home was Alan Douglas in a time of 18 minutes and 41 seconds in second place who narrowly beat club-mate Mark Livingstone (18:43) in a sprint to the line. Graeme MacFarlane notched a fine new best time of 19:43 to place sixth as he limbers up for this weekend’s Round the Toon 10k race in Kilmarnock.
Jim Sneddon (20:43) and Mike Flinn (22:39) were next followed by Colin Patterson (23:56), Joe McNamee (24:00), Stevie Connell (24:12) and Jim White (24:21) in a tight group close behind. Susan Rhodes (30:52), Ian McManus (33:54) and junior athlete Kirsty Rome (36:56) completed the Irvine finishers.
