REJUVENATED Irvine boxer Ryan Brawley firmly believes he is ready for another title fight following another commanding performance on the comeback trail.

The southpaw out-pointed Londoner Jordan Grannum 58-54 at Glasgow's Radisson Hotel on Friday night - despite suffering the first knockdown of his career.

He had been out since March with cracked ribs but came out with all guns blazing as he chalked up a second win since returning last November after taking a five-year break from the sport.

The boxer had done limited sparring in the build-up to the fight to avoid aggravating his injury, but looked as if he had never been away as he caused his opponent constant problems and landing a series of telling punches.

He was encouraged with his performance and said: "It was a good test for me and I felt really comfortable in the fight and Jordan is a really good boxer, he was as good as I thought. I felt I was a bit too relaxed in the last round and he caught me with a punch - I didn't see it coming, it didn't hurt. Thank God I did so well in the other rounds.

"That's the first time I have hit the canvas in my amateur or professional career, I had never been decked, but I got up quickly.

"Because I had been injured I did only 10 rounds of sparring before the fight, so I did OK considering I had no practice, I was pleased with it. That's another win."

Brawley, who has won 18 of his 19 contests, lost his only previous title fight. He was defeated by Stuart Green of Glenrothes at the St Andrew's Sporting Club in 2011 but he has a burning ambition to secure a title before finally hanging up his gloves.

And he looks in good shape to achieve his ambition, boxing with confidence.

He added: "We don't know what's happening next but that's just about the end of the season. I am hoping I can get a title fight. If that came as my next fight, then I would take it."
