INSPIRED Irvine completed back-to-back wins for the first time on Saturday.

They took on Glasgow Accies away in a Western Union First Division match.

The visitors won the toss and captain Rafay Ashraf put Accies in to bat on what was quite a damp wicket following some substantial overnight rain.

They were under pressure right from the off against a strong home bowling attack and the home side were bowled all out for 191.

South African overseas amateur Brandon Harwood was the top bowler with four for 20 during a fine spell, with Hafeez Muthair taking three for 23 and Jonathan Waspe, Indy Singh and Mosin Ali a wicket apiece.

The visitors batted well in their reply and Harwood completed a vintage all-round performance by hitting 59, while Mosin Ali was 33 not out and Waspe chipped in with 30. Singh also scored 26 as Irvine ended their innings on 192 for five, giving them a five-wicket victory.

Ashraf said: "It was a good move to put Accies in to bat as the wicket was damp and we bowled and batted well. Confidence is high."

The Marress side on Saturday host leaders West of Scotland.

The game holds no fears for the skipper who added: "I think we can take West. We have a really good team spirit."
