MEMBERS of Fullarton Wheelers Cycling Club are gearing up for a unique challenge this weekend to raise funds for the Ayrshire Hospice.

Starting at noon this coming Saturday, they will be attempting to collectively cycle 3000 miles round the Isle of Cumbrae in just 24 hours.

That’s about 300 laps between them.

Riders young and old will be participating each with their own target - for some that will be one or two laps, for others 10 or 20.

Club member, and one of the organisers of the event, Fraser Maitland said “We're not only doing this because we love to munch the miles on our bikes, we're doing it to raise as much money as we can to support the fantastic work done by the Ayrshire Hospice.”

The club will be very visible on the island over the weekend with their bright yellow kit and will be fundraising as well as riding during the day.

In addition to collecting money during the event a Virgin Money Giving web page has also been set up. Sponsorship and donations will be quickly processed and passed to the Ayrshire Hospice.

Virgin Money Giving is a not for profit organisation and will claim gift aid on a charity's behalf where the donor is eligible for this.
