AMERICAN Ryder Cup hero Patrick Reed and former USPGA champion Jason Dufner are the two latest stars to enter one of the European tour's flagship events in Irvine next month.

This duo on Monday confirmed their entry for the Aberdeen Asset Scottish Management Scottish Open at Dundonald Links, from July 14-17.

The event will feature the strongest field of the season on the European Tour, with Dufner joining a stellar line-up which also includes former Open champion Rory McIlroy, Henrik Stenson, who won the Open at Royal Troon last year and American fans' favourite Rickie Fowler.

Others include former Masters champion Adam Scott, Matt Kuchar and Englishman Tommy Fleetwood, who was a surprise runner-up in the US Open earlier this month.

Meanwhile, Stenson has signed up to compete in the second edition of the Hero Challenge ahead of the Scottish Open.

He will be among eight European Tour stars for the innovative one-hole knockout contest at Dundonald, with Alexander Levy defending the title he claimed in the inaugural staging of the event at the British Masters last year.

Hosted by Kirsty Gallacher and Vernon Kay on Tuesday, July 11, the event will also feature presenter Naga Munchetty, actor James Nesbitt, singer Brian McFadden, rugby ace and Strictly star Thom Doors open at 5pm and the show is live at 7.30pm.
