A GOOD week for Ron's Runners this saw four members take part in the Calderglen 10k trail race.

The trail run itself lived up to its name - all members saying it was one of the toughest routes they had run, but equally one of the most enjoyable.

There were roads, paths, steps and hills, with an incline of 280 metres - everything you expect from a good course that was very well marshalled.

Some sections were good to get a cracking pace going and some runners just had to knuckle down and dig deep. Cameron Miller was first home for the club and finished overall 26th with an impressive 43.44, followed shortly after by John Owens finished the course in a fantastic 47.26. Next up was Thomas Hodgart with 55.44, Pamela Porteous finished in 57.52 and Dayle Burnside found the course touch but dug deep to record a satisfying finishing time of 1:27:41.

Everyone seemed to enjoy the experience of the Park and reported it certainly one that won't be overlooked next year. Well done to all.

Travelling for Ron's Runners this weekend, Sylvia Mulholland completed the Springburn Parkrun in an impressive 22.35 - only one second slower than her course PB!

Eleven club members ran in this week’s local Eglinton Parkrun. First home for the club was Andy Stewart - finishing in 20.25, next up Cameron Miller finished in 21.00, Neil McMullen 22.45, Mark Garton 24.10.

First for the ladies, Pamela Porteous finished in 25.44, Gemma Davidson close after with 26.04, John Watters 29.49, Yvonne McCalmont finished with a PB of 32.26, Ann Hay 33.09, Mary Huggan 33.16 and finalising the Parkrunners, Carol Rome finished in 34.31.

Ron's Runners meet every Tuesday at 6pm in the main carpark within Eglinton Park and every Thursday at the bottom of the escalators within Irvine’s Rivergate Centre.

Runners of all abilities are welcome to come along on either night. Queries can be emailed to jogalong2010@hotmail.com.
