A QUIET week for Ron's Runners this week saw four club members complete the challenging, hilly half marathon on Arran.

Weather on the day was perfect for running, overcast with a slight wind.

The hilly route was made worthwhile with the beautiful scenery at Blackwater Foot. Andy Stewart, still in great form, completed the course in 1.31.35, Matthew Watson continued his excellent form finishing in 1.33.13 followed by Neil Kyle finishing in 1.38 and Andy McNaughton who is in training for the Clyde Side Ultra was aiming to finish in two hours and use this as a training run, he was pleased to finish in an excellent 1.57, although a wee niggle at 10 miles was a worry for some of the race.

Twelve club members ran in this week’s local Eglinton Parkrun.

First home for the club was Cameron Miller with a time of 18.34 followed by John Owens 20.39, first for the club ladies Jennifer Shaw crossed the finish line in an excellent time of 24.02 followed by Sylvia Mulholland 24.13, Hugh Hood 24.14, Pamela Porteous 25.20, Gemma Davidson 25.59, Carol Rome 28.10, William Goggans 29.17, Alistair Kirkcaldy 29.41 and Astrud Gibson finished in 30.58. Well done to Neil McMullen for taking on the role of tail runner this week - crossing the line with the last runner in 44.31. Organisers thank Andy Stewart for volunteering this week.

Rons Runners meet every Tuesday at 6pm in the main carpark within Eglinton Park and every Thursday at the bottom of the escalators within Irvine’s Rivergate Centre. Runners of all abilities welcome to come along on either night. Queries can be emailed to jogalong2010@hotmail.com.
