Scottish Junior Cup First Round Replay

MAYBOLE 0

IRVINE VICTORIA 3

IRVINE Vics deservedly progressed to the second round of the national competition against a Maybole side who never really got into the match.

This was a much more one-sided game than the contest at Victoria Park the previous weekend, with Stevie Wilson's team holding all the aces against their Ayrshire District League rivals.

They bossed much of the game and there was never going to be much doubt about the outcome.

It was Maybole who had the first chance in eighth minutes when a ball into the box found Alex Bell, but his effort was saved by the keeper.

Vics took the lead in 12 minutes when a ball into the box was not cleared and Callum Davidson was on hand at the back post to turn the ball into the net.

Back-from-injury striker Kevin Adam doubled the lead in 62 minutes.

Maybole kept battling away but it was not their day, with the woodwork coming to their rescue on a number of occasions.

The scoring was completed a minute from time when substitute Grant Bolton found the net.
