AFTER the success of a breakfast badminton club at Castlepark Primary School, arranged by Irvine Junior Badminton Club and North Ayrshire Active Schools coordinator Stephen Fraser, IJBC committee have established a new junior club at Castlepark Community Centre.
The first session was delivered on Saturday, with 20 kids registered for their first session.
The session consisted of introduction to badminton, warm-up games, back hand serves, shuttle runs and around the world. The session was delivered by Andrew Tremble Jnr and sister Eva.
The local badminton club have had success in funding from The Lottery Fund and North Ayrshire Venture Trust. This funding is aimed at badminton in the community.
IJBC now have four sessions per week.
Friday night sessions at Irvine Royal Academy- Juniors (8 to 10 years), 6pm-7.30pm, £2; seniors (11-16) 7.30-.30pm. £2
Development squad, Tuesdays, Irvine Royal Academy, 6pm-8pm, £2, invitation only.
Thursday sessions for all are held at Irvine Royal Academy, from 4pm until 6pm with the cost £2.
