CAMBUSLANG RANGERS 4

IRVINE MEADOW 3

UNLUCKY Meadow ended up with nine men as they lost by the odd goal in seven at Somervell Park.

They had gone into the game on a high after seeing off Maryhill on penalties to advance to the second round of the Scottish Junior Cup.

The home side got off to the perfect start by taking the lead in 10 minutes. However Meadow kept battling and levelled when Mark McLennan slipped a precision pass to Danny McKay, who slammed home a shot.

Medda came so close to scoring again when a netbound shot from Jared Willet was cleared on the line by a defender.

Just before the break the visitors netted again with a great finish, as McKay sent a great lay-off to Eddie McTernan, who smashed a shot home from the edge of the box.

Early in the second half 'Lang scored a goal on the counter-attack to level the match.

Ryan Carnwath then replaced McKay as Medda freshened up.

However they were dealt a huge blow when Craig Buchanan was sent off for a second booking.

Team-mate Darren Miller then followed him in for an early shower, reducing the visitors to 10 men.

Cambuslang then made the most of their two-man advantage by scoring.

The hosts were then reduced to 10 men.

Late on Ross McKinnon gave Medda hope by scoring direct from a free-kick.

However the home side held on to hand Meadow a third defeat out of six in the league.
