POSITIVES were taken by Kilwinning Rangers boss Chris Strain after his side drew for the second time this season against champions Glenafton Athletic.

The 1-1 draw matched the result between the teams at Abbey Park back in January and moves Buffs seven points clear of Auchinleck Talbot, who have a game in hand.

Strain said afterwards: "This was a point gained in dreadful conditions for both teams. Ourselves and Glenafton like to keep the ball down and play it a bit, The conditions were not tantamount to a good game of football but, despite that, we got ourselves into a winning position. We were against the strong wind in the first half, yet managed to put ourselves into a position where we could win the game."

The Abbey Park manager admitted the conditions made it difficult for his team.

He added: "Although we did not quite see it out, my summary of the game is that we did okay and worked hard but not many players could have adapted to those conditions. It is a point gained away from home, but is shows how far we have come that we are disappointed that we did not win a match against Glenafton, away from home.

It will stand us in good stead. We have a tough game on Saturday against Beith and we will be prepared for it. Hopefully we can get into a bit of rhythm and, if we can just get ourselves together, we will be there or thereabouts. We will dust ourselves down, a draw is a draw, and we go again at the weekend at Abbey Park."
