Ayrshire Weekly Press Cup Second Round
IRVINE MEADOW 3
ARDROSSAN WINTON ROVERS 0
A MAKESHIFT Winton side who welcomed back Stevie O'Neil and Alan Jamieson battled hard before succumbing to a strong Meadow outfit on Monday night.
After a poor first half with few chances for either side when Rovers held their own Meadow, whose manager Brian McGinty started the game, took control after the break.
They scored just a minute in when Con Boyle sent a 20-yard left foot shot low into the bottom corner.
Boyle then set up Peter Gemmell to smash the ball home and net his first goal for the home side. Then a Boyle free-kick crashed off the post and Ryan Carnwath headed home the rebound.
Winton, playing their first game for almost a month, had several half chances but couldn't get the ball in the net.
