ELATED Irvine Vics assistant boss Mark McCann hailed his side after they racked up a second straight thumping win last night.

They have claimed joint top spot in the McBookie Championship after sweeping aside Kello Rovers 7-2 in a one-sided tie, scoring five of their goals in the first half.

Victory came just four days after they had hammered Larkhall Thistle 6-1 in the league opener at Gasworks Park.
And former Ardrossan Winton Rovers caretaker boss McCann hailed the performances of free-scoring Ross McKenzie and Hamish McKinlay, who were both signed after scoring six goals and four goals respectively in their last two games. The duo were previously with Stranraer and are seen as great prospects.
McCann was in charge with manager Brian McLuckie on holiday.
And he was impressed with how they played.
He said: "We tell the players to get the ball down and play and they are doing that. People coming to the game like to see good football. We couldn't have asked for a better start with two wins and 13 goals from the first two games. We took our goals really well and Ross and Hamish are both talented young players, the have been with us all pre-season and have fitted in well.
"It's basically a new team, when we had just two signed players from last season, Kevin Adam and Jordan Craig but Paul Young and Ryan Singleton both liked what they saw and decided to re-sign.
"Ryan played really well last night two and it's great he has bought into what we are doing at the club. He is an Irvine lad and it's good to see him doing well."
However despite being happy with progress, McCann is not one for getting carried away.
He said: "I spoke to Brian last night and had a good report for him, he has so much experience and is good to work with.
"We have started well but it's a very competitive league and we want to consolidate our place this season, that has to be the main aim. We play Dalry away on Saturday and that will be tough as they have also started well and have added to their squad."
