Irvine 103 all out

Drumpellier 107-4

IRVINE lost out to a strong Drumpellier side who chalked up their 11th straight victory to clinch the title at Marress on Saturday.

Skipper Stuart McCallum was disappointed with the way his side started the game and said: "We didn't score enough runs, it's was simple as that and it's disappointing as we had the best of the wicket. I think 150 might have made it interesting. On the day Drumpellier were the better team and deserved to win.

"We bowled okay but didn't have enough runs on the board so the damage had been done."

Drumpellier won the toss and chose to field first.

They had the Irvine openers under pressure with Indy Singh bowled for just five and South African overseas amateur Koot Pienaar hitting 22, before Jonathan Conway was dismissed for just 15. The remainder of the batting order also struggled as Irvine were dismissed for just 103.

The visitors had the bit between their teeth as they came out to bat and they reached their target with still 28 overs to spare, ending their innings on 107-4.

The result leaves Irvine in sixth spot with two games remaining and they will be looking for a strong finish.
