IRVINE MEADOW 1

POLLOK 3

TEN-man Meadow went down to a second defeat of the season against Pollok.

But they were left feeling aggrieved after a very harsh red card decision totally changed the game.

The hosts, who had new signing James Latta in their line-up, got off to the perfect start by scoring in just two minutes as Graham Boyd powerfully headed home a cross.

In 17 minutes, home player Callum Gow and an opponent were both yellow-carded. Three minutes later Graham Boyd beat the visiting goalie in a race for the ball but was wiped out just outside the penalty box. The goalie was fortunate to get only a yellow card and the striker limped out of the game with a leg injury.

Meadow kept pressing and in 25 minutes, Ben Carson on the left fired a free-kick towards the bottom corner, but the goalie pushes it away for a corner-kick. In 40 minutes, Jordan McGuire came close with a header.

Home goalie Mikey White then made the first of many good saves. In 44 minutes Carson was fouled for a challenge on ex-Meadow man Gary McCann.

There was a huge flashpoint in 55 minutes when Gow was sent off for an alleged foul on the edge of the box. However video evidence suggested the visiting player dived.

Two minutes later White saved a free-kick.

In 64 minutes Bryan Young levelled the match for 'Lok.

Following a midfield stramash three minutes later, Jared Willet, Colin Spence and one Pollok player were all booked.

Three minutes later, Danny Boyle blasted a shot into the roof of the net to put the visitors ahead.

In 88 minutes Pollok were awarded a soft penalty and former Meadow man Shaun Fraser netted from the spot.
