GUTTED Kilmarnock striker Josh Magennis said the struggling Rugby Park team are not trying hard enough after slumping to a heavy loss against his former team.

The defeat kept them in second bottom spot and it was the fourth time they had lost at least four goals in a game this season.

Magennis said after the match: "I don't know where to start. It was just a shambles of a performance again. The gaffer can accept times when you are not playing well as a team. But he can't accept people not trying. There are far too many players, including myself to a degree who are not trying and we got fully punished for it. Nothing went right for us and we couldn't string two passes together."

Added boss Gary Locke: "I will normally protect my players but this wasn't good enough. I'm feeling very sore. I heard the reaction from the fans and I understand it. We've had too many bad results at Rugby Park. I'm confident I can turn this around."

Back to the action and the Dons went ahead in nine minutes when a Kenny McLean cross was powerfully headed home by Niall McGinn.

McLean then hit the crossbar as the Dons kept pressing. However in 35 minutes the Dons scored again. With the home defence in disarray, McGinn crossed to Adam Rooney, who sent a bullet header beyond Jamie MacDonald and into the net.

Then only 15 seconds after the break the visitors were coasting at 3-0 as McLean swung a cross into the box and Johnny Hayes slammed a shot into the net..

The rout was complete 10 minutes from time when Cammy Smith sent a precision pass to Peter Pawlett and he back-heeled to Shay Logan, who nudged the ball home from 10 yards.
