A NEW boys football team have become the first youth side to be set up by Clark Drive AFC.

The Drive 2004 side follows on from the success of girls team set up under the umbrella of the club, who play home games at Irvine Sports Club.

And they were given a helping hand by local supermarket Asda, who have given them a £1000 grant to aid development.

The Irvine lads will be competing in the Central Ayrshire League from August and are currently welcoming new recruits to their ranks.

Coach Paul Campbell said: "We would like to hear from new players, even youngsters who are new to football. Hopefully eventually we will be able to feed players through to the amateur side eventually and when this time finishes its cycle another one can be set up."
