HEARTS 1

KILMARNOCK 2

EVERGREEN striker Kris Boyd hit out at his critics as his goal helped Killie break Hearts.

It was new manager Steve Clarke's first victory since taking charge.

The former Rangers target man scored the opening goal and quickly silenced the home fans by poking fun at his waistline.

He said later: "I've said it umpteen times, that football is too serious, and you can't have a bit of banter with fans. Credit to the referee for not booking me because the last time I did something like that I did get booked. I don't mind the fans but when you give it you have to take it back. The Hearts fans had a laugh the last time but I will leave here with the big smile."

Added Clarke: "We should have won a little bit more comfortably but we'll take the win."

Back to the action and Killie looked sharper in the opening exchanges as they looked to bounce back from midweek defeat against the home side's Edinburgh rival Hibs.

They took the lead on the half hour when Kirk Broadfoot sent a long pass towards Boyd and despite the efforts of Michael Smith, the veteran striker drilled a low shot through the body of Jon McLauchlin.

Early in the second half home player Isma Concalves hit the post and Kyle Lafferty also came close.

However in 76 minutes the Jambos levelled when Concalves cut in from the left and dispatched a shot beyond Jamie MacDonald and into the net.

Three minutes from time Killie clinched victory when Adam Frizzell spun and lifted a shot into the net from six yards.
