PRESTWICK CFC 2001s 4

KSC KILWINNING RANGERS 3

A POOR display from the Wee Buffs on Sunday saw them lose out at Prestwick.

The lads started well and had a good opening 10 minutes, putting the home side on the back foot.

Jared Peacock opened the scoring in eight minutes with a low 20-yard drive which the keeper looked to have covered until the ball took a weird bounce just in front of him which caused him to spill it into the net.

They had a couple of chances just after this, the first again from Peacock but he fired just wide and the second from the previous weekend's hat-trick hero Cameron Paton which he fired wide under pressure.

Prestwick drew level in 12 minutes, weak tackling and lack of commitment to blame allowing a player to run through and score.

The home team got confidence from the goal and upped their game as Buffs seemed to drop out of it.

Prestwick's second goal was poor from the visitors' point of view - they were pushing forward when a high clearance was allowed to bounce in midfield and run through to the striker for a finish.

Visiting goalie Adam Boyd was the busier of the two keepers and pulled out a couple of fine stops to keep his side in the game at half-time.

The lads re-grouped and some changes seemed to settle them down, although they were still second best. Their midfield had no end product, struggling to defend and not creating in the attack.

Substitute Daryn Rainey then made an impact. With only his second or third touch, he sent Brad Morrison through and he side-footed home from close range.

However the home team then took the game to Buffs and could have had a couple more goals but for Boyd. But the goalie could do nothing when the right winger was allowed to run at as unchallenged before delivering for a goal.

The third goal served as a wake-up call and Dan Watson, Brad Morrison and Daryn Rainey all had decent chances and looked the most likely to score before an avoidable goal in 78 minutes put the hosts 4-2 up.

A great Sean Clement free-kick just on full time made the scoreline more respectable but the visitors didn't deserve to take anything from the game.
