Chris Strain's outfit travel east for their second round tie
IRVINE MEADOW have been drawn away to Borders East of Scotland League team Selkirk FC in the Second Round of the Active Nation Scottish Cup.
It's their seventh successive away draw in a major cup competition but manager Chris Strain, whose troops saw off Brora Rangers 2-0 in Saturday's opening round, admits it could have been worse.
When we broke the news of their opponents to the Meadow boss on Wednesday morning he said: "We would rather have had a home tie obviously and although we know it will be tough as they are a Premier Division side it could have been worse. It would be nice if we could make further progress but I will have to get more information on Selkirk. Right now we are focusing on our Emirates Scottish Junior Cup First Round tie at Bankfoot and will hope to get through that."
Ayrshire rivals Girvan will host Inverness Clachnacuddin or Wick Academy while Auchinleck Talbot face a long trip north to take on Highland League side Huntly, who are the subject of match-fixing investigation following their win against Hawick Royal Albert.
The ties are scheduled for Saturday, October 24,
