Home tie in third round

IRVINE MEADOW have been drawn at home to Barr's Irn-Bru Scottish Second Division strugglers Arbroath in the Third Round of the Active Nation Scottish Cup.

Boss Chris Strain was upbeat following the draw, made at Hampden Park on Wednesday by Scotland Ladies legend Julie Fleeting from Kilwinning along with SFA President George Peat and leading athlete Lee McConnell.

Opponents the Red Lichties are currently second bottom of the Second Division with just 11 points from 11 games with the tie scheduled for Saturday, November 28.

Strain said: "It's not a glamour tie but it could have been worse and we have a chance. Hopefully we will get a fair crowd and we have the carrot of making the Fourth Round and being drawn against a bigger name. I will have to get more information on them."

For a full reaction to the draw and all the latest on Irvine Meadow see next week's paper.

Meanwhile Junior rivals Auchinleck Talbot will face Stirling Albion away if Tommy Sloan's men can overcome Huntly in Saturday's Second Round replay.
