PROLIFIC Irvine Victoria striker Kevin Adam is hoping to help Irvine Victoria win the title after breaking through the 100 goals barrier.

The striker scored his 100th and 101st goals in Saturday's 2-1 win away to Lugar Boswell Thistle as the l~District League leaders chalked up a 15th win out of 16.

Adam, in his seventh season at Victoria Park, became only the fourth player in the club's history to score 100 goals or more.

The club's longest serving player received a medal from chairman Robert Hanvey to mark the occasion, but will be presented with a plaque or plate at the next home game.

He said: "I am really proud of the achievement as I am a Vics fan as well as a player and hopefully we can go on to win the league. I was in the 90s for a few weeks. It was great to reach 100. The all=time top scorer is Andy Clarkson on 142 goals, now hopefully I can pass his total."

Vics boss Stevie Wilson paid tribute to the striker and said: "I'm so pleased for Kevin. He is a goalscorer who can hold the ball up well and bring other people into play but he can also defend."

The manager was impressed with his team's display and said: "It was a good win and the scoreline flattered Lugar as we missed a few chances. We are in a good position but nothing has been achieved yet. and we have to keep working hard.."

Vics on Saturday play Kello Rovers away in the opening round of the Ayrshire Weekly Press Cup.

Wilson said: "It's a break from the league and we will going all out to win the game,"
