GUTTED Irvine Meadow co-manager Michael Wardrope is fully focused on the league after his side's Scottish Cup run came to a disappointing end.

Meadow went down 1-0 away to Central League Second Division side Carluke Rovers in a fourth round tie they had been fully expected to win.

The co-boss was still coming to terms with the defeat and said on Tuesday: "I am gutted as are the players with the result. It was difficult playing with 10 men for 80 minutes although I can't disagree with the red card.

"Even a man down we played well and ran ourselves into the ground trying to get back into the match. We hit the bar twice and their goalie made a couple of great saves. It's disappointing because we felt we had a really good chance of getting to the last 16."

The Meadow co-boss is looking forward to Saturday's Super First Division clash with Rutherglen Glencairn and said: "Our form in the league has been good and we must look to win the game. But it will be tough because Rutherglen drew with us in the league game at Meadow Park and we beat them on penalties up there in the West of Scotland Cup.

"But if we can win our next couple of games we could go up a few places, although we are taking it a game at a time."

Struggling Irvine Victoria will be looking to end their miserable run with a home win against Petershill.

Vics on Saturday lost 2-1 at Clydebank and are running out of games as they battle for survival.
