DETERMINED Kilwinning Rangers boss Chris Strain and defender Barry Fleeting are focusing on the fight for survival after their Scottish Junior Cup quest ended.
They lost 2-0 away to 11-time winners Auchinleck Talbot in a quarter-final tie at Beechwood Park.
Strain was disappointed with the outcome but heartened with the players' efforts and said: "Talbot scored goals, shut up shop and were worthy winners. We had to take Tommy Maitland off early on as he was struggling with a rib injury and Joe Colemandid well. I can't fault the players for their efforts.
"We have an Ayrshire Weekly Press Cup tie at Hurlford on Saturday and hopefully we can win that. The league is our priority and we must rally and make sure we get the necessary points on the board to stay up, but it's still very much in our hands."
Fleeting said: "We were looking for a bit of momentum but never really got it. We were up against it after going 2-0 down. Hopefully we can get back to winning ways in the cup on Saturday and go for it in the league campaign. There's plenty to play for - we still have seven games left and hopefully we can stay up."
