THIS match sums up Irvine Victoria's season with another odd goal defeat at the hands of Maryhill.

Despite twice despite twice coming back from a goal down Vics, who were officially relegated last Wednesday night, still ended up losing.

The Westenders started the stronger side and in five minutes it a fine save by Jack Baker to deny David Adams the opening goal.

Midway through the half a header by Kevin Adam from a corner was cleared off the line and four minutes later a header from George Bonner hit the post.

Nine minutes from the interval Kevin Adam hit the post from six yards when he possibly should have scored.

It was however Maryhill who opened the scoring against the run of play - a mix-up in the Vics defence allowed Jamie Docherty to net.

It was an all-action start to the second half and a minute in it should have been 2-0 for Maryhill when Lee McLelland burst through but his lob was

saved by the Vics trialist keeper.

Vics equalised four minutes later a sweeping move down the right allowed David Adams to cross for Eddie Ablorh to net.

Maryhill went ahead again three minutes later Kieran Furay picked up a loose ball at the edge of the penalty area and drove the ball into the net.

This lead did not last long as Vics were back on level terms in 57 minutes, Eddie Ablorh setting up Adam who shot across the keeper into the net.

A minute later it took a fine save by the Vics trialist goalie to deny Dale Clark.

Vics were forced into a change in 73 minutes when Grant Bolton had to be replaced by another trialist.

Six minutes from the end Maryhill were awarded a penalty for hand Ball and Colin Preston made no mistake from the penalty spot.
