KILSYTH RANGERS 3

IRVINE VICTORIA 1

RELEGATED Vics ended the season by falling to defeat against the hosts who now face Kilwinning Rangers in the Premier Division playoff.

However once again Stevie Wilson's side paid the price for spurning a host of scoring chances and conceding sloppy goals.

The visitors began well and early on Ryan Singleton twice came close from free-kicks. One effort was touched onto the bar by the home goalie and the other set-piece glanced just over the bar.

However in 35 minutes Rangers seized the lead against the run of play as Singleton lost possession 30 yards from goal and a home player went on to smash home an unstoppable shot from 25 yards.

The Westenders continued to play well after the break and Dylan Hamilton had a shot from the edge of the box deflected wide by the home goalie. Then midway through the half. Singleton was left one-on-one with the home goalie but contrived to shoot wide of target. However two minutes later the Lanarkshire side doubled their advantage as a free-kick spun off home defender Paul Young and landed in the back of the net.

With 10 minutes remaining visiting goalie George Scott tried to make a clearance but contrived to punch the ball off the home striker and it landed in the back of the net.

Irvine Vics pulled a goal back with five minutes remaining when Young powerfully headed home a Callum Davidson corner-kick but it was too little, too late.

Wilson said later: "We dominated the match but couldn't take our chances and conceded some silly goals."
