AMBITIOUS new Irvine Meadow boss Ross Wilson is set to bring in up to nine fresh faces as he bids to put his stamp on the team.

Nine are set to re-sign, with the same number of new players set to come on board as others leave.

Wilson said: "The recruitment process has started, we talked to two last week and have five or six on our periphery. Nine should re-sign and I would hope to have a squad of 18. The players currently here will have every chance to show what they are capable of. I would say we have a good squad here but am looking to add players from amateur, junior or senior level. If they are good enough they will play."

The new manager will bring as his assistant John Quinn, who worked with him both at Kello Rovers last season and previously Queens Park.

He is targeting promotion next season and he said: "There's talk of league re-construction but it's not confirmed yet and at the moment we have to aim for the top two or third spot which would get us a playoff. This is without doubt my biggest challenge as Meadow are a huge club with vast potential."

Meadow have drawn up a pre-season friendly programme.

On Saturday, July 15 they host Ashfield and four days later are at home to Gartcairn, ko 7.15pm. Saturday, July 22 sees them hosting Fauldhouse United. while on Wednesday, July 26 they are at home to Maybole. A trip to Haddington follows on Saturday, July 29.
