IRVINE Vics came out on top in an entertaining match against a much-changed Maybole Juniors side, writes Matt Speirs.

Vics opened strongly and deservedly went ahead in 10 minutes when Dylan Hamilton sent an inviting cross to the back post and Kevin Adam rose to head the ball across the keeper and into the net.

It was all Vics in the early stages and in 14 minutes Hamilton set up David Adams but he shot wide.

In 17 minutes Hamilton set up Kevin Adam but he shot over from six yards

Maybole came more into the game after this and it took a good save from Chris Lamb to deny Lewis Gardiner the equaliser in 21 minutes.

It was 2-0 for Vics a minute later when a clumsy challenge in the penalty area was penalised and Adam scored from the penalty spot.

Four minutes later Maybole were back in the game when Alex Bell beat a defender on the edge of the box and sent a low shot into the net.

Right from the restart Vics went to the other end and following a scramble in the box they were awarded another penalty and David Adams made no mistake from the spot kick.

Five minutes from the interval Maybole again got themselves back in the match when a long throw-in by Fraser McMillan found Stuart Peacock and he headed the ball into the net.

Vics were awarded a free-kick on the edge of the box and Callum Davidson shot past the wall and into the net to restore the two-goal advantage.

Once again Maybole got back into the match and it was a long throw in by Fraser McMillan which set up the chance with Stuart Peacock heading the ball on and Alex Bell netted.

Eight minutes from the end Vics made the points safe a corner landed at Sean Mears and he had an open goal to shoot into.
