McBookie Super League First Division
PETERSHILL 4
IRVINE MEADOW 0
A BAD day at the office in Springburn saw Meadow crash to their first league defeat against a home side who take top spot after this win.
It was a surprisingly heavy defeat for Ross Wilson's side, who had started well with a come-from-behind win at Troon and a home victory against Shettleston.
They were knocked out of their stride in just two minutes when Scott McManus put the home side 1-0 ahead.
Then Meadow came close when centre half Craig Buchanan, who has returned to the club for a second spell, sent a header narrowly wide of target
However midway through the first half, the hosts doubled their advantage when Alex Cassells turned the ball home.
Ross McKinnon, who scored a wonder goal against Shettleston, sent an effort wide as the visitors kept battling to get back into the match.
Early in the second half Medda made changes, with Con Boyle and Ryan Carnwath replacing Ben Black and Stuart Hannah.
However in 58 minutes Cassells scored again and he completed his hat-trick in 64 minutes to round off a thoroughly miserable afternoon for Irvine Meadow and their fans.
IRVINE MEADOW: Gordon; McLennan, McKinnon, Buchanan, Begley, Carson, Hannah, McKeown, McKay, Connolly, Black. Subs: Miller, McCrea, Carnwath, Boyle.
