IRVINE MEADOW 2

GLENAFTON ATHLETIC 4

MEADOW took on the Scottish Junior Cup holders and Premier Division champions in a friendly at the Kilwinning Academy Astroturf on Saturday.

The game gave Meadow boss Brian McGinty an opportunity to use most of his squad and give game time to players who had not featured regularly in the starting line-up.

It was hastily arranged after Meadow's Scottish Junior Cup clash with Dyce was called off for a fourth time.

In the first half, a host of chances were missed by both sides. However Meadow went ahead when skipper Ben Carson converted a penalty just before the break.

Ben Black was limped off injured following a challenge.

Glens then levelled before scoring two other goals.

Mark McLennan then pulled a goal back for Meadow with a long range shot into the top corner of the net.

Medda pushed for the equaliser but got caught on break as Glens scored a fourth goal to seal victory.
