ALL the pressure is on Dalry Thistle as they head to Irvine for a hotly anticipated showdown on Saturday.

That was the verdict from Irvine Vics manager Stevie Wilson as his team swept aside Annbank United 5-0 to reclaim top spot in the Ayrshire District League.

Wilson was impressed with his team's showing and said: "The constant downpour was a worry and the park was a bit soft but the park was in good condition considering the amount of rain. I delayed naming the team until confirmation it was on. To be honest I was really pleased at the way we went about our business, we were professional and should have scored more, we could have eight or nine.

"I'm over the moon with we played and delighted for David Wilson who was out for over a year with a knee injury and Graham Longair has battled back from long term injury. We got a clean sheet which was good and in midfield Jordan Craig was outstanding along with David Smith "Harpo" and Sean Mears.!

Looking ahead he said: "Dalry will be high in confidence after a 4-0 win against Craigmark they won't fear coming to play us. We won't fear Dalry. It sets up for a ding-dong game. People keep telling me say Dalry will win the league, they are unbeaten so far but we have to play them twice . The pressure is on Dalry, but there's no pressure on us, we are going about our business. We are going into the game to pick up maximum points."

Meanwhile Irvine Meadow manager Brian McGinty says he will take points over performances after his side continued their fine run of recent form in the league.

They defeated Largs Thistle 2-1 at home to keep them within touching distance of the top half of the table.

McGinty said: "It was an important win for us and I know what we are capable of. To be fair we have played better and lost but the important thing is to pick up three points. At this time of the season with the parks as they are you just have to make sure you pick up results. We have a good squad which we will need as we will be playing football for another three months."

Medda on Saturday head to Shettleston for another league game and McGinty added: "Right now we are focusing on overtaking team above us and we will see where that takes us. The aim is to take three points on Saturday.

The boss recently signed striker Peter Gemmell from Giffnock North Ams and the boss said: "He played against Maybole in a friendly and bringing him in creates competition for places, which is good."
