DELIGHTED Irvine Meadow manager Brian McGinty had special praise for striker Eddie McTernan, after he scored the second goal in the 2-0 home win against Cambuslang Rangers.

McTernan was signed by predecessor Ross Wilson and has impressed in recent weeks.

McGinty said: "Eddie was dropped a few weeks back but he has come back into the side and has done really well. He was determined. That's four wins in a row for us since we lost the Scottish Cup tie but we just keep looking at the team above us and try to catch them and we have been doing that. We have put ourselves in with a chance of making the playoffs and have to keep working hard. The Scottish Cup defeat against Lochee was a disappointment but we have moved on since then and have been playing well. We are on a good run."

Meadow on Saturday face Larkhall Thistle away in the New Coin Holdings West of Scotland Cup.

McGinty said: "The league is definitely the priority. It's not an easy place to go but the aim is to keep winning games and hopefully we can get a result. We will use some of the players who have not featured in recent weeks to give them an opportunity. With a lot of midweek games coming up, especially in the league we realise that the full squad will have to be used."

The manager has no plans to further strengthen his squad before the end of the season.
