ON-form striker Eddie McTernan is setting his sights on promotion after continuing his fine run of form.

The target man bagged his third goal in two games as his side swept aside hosts Larkhall Thistle 4-0 in a West of Scotland Cup tie.

McTernan, who joined Meadow at the start of the season said: "The manager Brian McGinty has given us great confidence since he came on board in October. Coaching is really good and we have a good team. It was good to get another couple of goals on Saturday. We have a cup tie again on Saturday when we play Dalry Thistle in the Ayrshire Weekly Press Cup and we must look to get through that. But the league is our priority and we hope for at the minimum to achieve promotion through the playoffs, we want to be in the top league next season."

Meanwhile boss Brian McGinty praised new signing, midfielder Colin Spence who joined from Arthurlie and was previously at Troon and Auchinleck Talbot ahead of the cup tie.

He said: "Colin is a winner, he has played at the top level and has lots to offer. I'm sure he will do well for us."

Assessing the weekend display he said: "We controlled the match and deserved to win. It was good to see Eddie getting a couple of goals, he has been great since coming back into the team and is working hard."

Looking ahead to the weekend the manager added: "I know their manager Gavin Friels well from playing alongside him at Meadow and they have been doing well. But we aim to come through at home, we are taking a game at a time."
