Pollok lose out at last minute to Irvine

IRVINE Meadow scooped the Stagecoach Premier Division title without lifting a finger last night as Scottish Junior Cup holders defeated Pollok.

Meadow had been hoping for a favour from their Ayrshire compatriots but it seemed that Pollok - who had to win their final three games to pip the Irvine side - would be crowned champions again, leading 1-0 with little of the game to go.

However, a massive fightback from Talbot saw them emerge as 3-1 victors.

And there were celebrations down the road in Irvine as they saw their title dream realised.
