RIDERS from Ayr Roads Harry Fairbairn BMW-Sprockets.com Cycling Club got 2014 off to a flying start.

The traditional season opener is the Ice-Breaker 10 mile time trial, where teams of two race from Eglinton Park to Barassie along the A78 bypass. More than 100 riders took to the start line on Sunday morning, and with very favourable weather conditions some excellent times were on the cards for the 16 Ayr Roads racers. First prize in the ladies category went to our own Toni MacIntosh and Lynne Wardrop with a winning time of 25 minutes and 40 seconds. In the mens event, Ed Clifton and Alistair McGibbon recorded an impressive time of 22 minutes and 58 seconds, which merited the duo an excellent 12th position. First place went to Silas Goldsworthy and Alan Thomson from Sandy Wallace Cycles with a blistering time of 20 minutes and 21 seconds.
