In accordance with Paragraph 4 of Schedule 7 to the Pollution Prevention and Control (Scotland) Regulations, notice is hereby given that WH Malcolm Ltd has applied to the Scottish Environment Protection Agency (SEPA) to vary their permit under Regulation 46 of the regulations

In accordance with Paragraph 4 of Schedule 7 to the Pollution Prevention and Control (Scotland) Regulations, notice is hereby given that WH Malcolm Ltd has applied to the Scottish Environment Protection Agency (SEPA) to vary their permit under Regulation 46 of the regulations. This is in respect of the activities being carried out, namely the restoration of the inert landfill site at Loanhead Quarry, Boydstone Road, Beith, North Ayrshire, KA15 2JN.

The change in the operation proposed by the application is to vary the existing PPC Permit tonnage limit to allow the complete restoration of the worked out western area in accordance with the current Planning Permission that was granted in December 1997.

The application contains a description of any foreseeable significant effects of emissions from the Installation on the environment on human health.

The application may be inspected, free of charge, at SEPA, Angus Smith Building, Eurocentral Office, 6 Parklands Avenue, Holytown, MLO1 4WQ from Monday to Friday between 9.30am and 4.30pm. Please quote reference number PPC/A/1038061.

The application contains a description of the proposed change and any impact it may have on:

? The extent of the site



? The activities carried out



? The installation and any directly associated activities



? The raw and auxiliary materials, substances and energy to be used or generated



? The nature, quantities and source foreseeable emissions from the installation



? The techniques for preventing, reducing or rendering harmless emissions



? How the best available techniques are applied to the operation of the installation



? The proposed measures to be taken to monitor emissions



? The measures to be taken to minimise waste and recover waste generated



? Measures taken against pollution and to ensure that no significant pollution is caused



? Relevant information from any environmental impact assessment



? An outline of the main alternatives, if any been studied



? Measures to ensure compliance with the provisions of Chapter IV and Annex VI of the Industrial Emissions Directive in terms of heat recovery, production and handling and disposal of residues and emissions



? Measures to guarantee that the installation will be designed equipped and operated in a manner that the requirements of Chapter V and Annex VII of the Industrial Emissions Directive are met



? Other information which the applicant may wish SEPA to the in account



The determination of the application is subject to a National Impact Assessment

All guidance relevant to the determination of the proposed Variation which has been given to the operator is made available either on the public register or on SEPA's Website
