IRVINE'S Harbourside will be alive with music, art and storytelling as part of a new festival this weekend.

More details have been released on the first ever Harbourside Festival - Wha's Like Us - since the Times covered the event last month.

More than 30 events have been organised for the June 1 to 3 event, including: * Friday June 1, evening, there will be Music at the Ship Inn, Theatre at Harbour Arts Centre.

* Saturday 2 and Sunday 3, the Maritime Museum are offering tours of the boats in the harbour. The Ship Workers Flat on Montgomery Street will be open to the public. The Carters Society is offering horse and cart rides. There will be art and heritage exhibitions in the Maritime Museum Boat Shop and Puffer Cafe.

* At the Harbour Arts Centre old film footage from Irvine will be shown throughout the day. A new short film produced by an award winning local film maker will be shown in HAC on Saturday afternoon. The Irvine Folk Club is holding a concert at Harbour Arts Centre on Saturday night and The Irvine Burns Club will be celebrating Captain Richard Browns Birthday Bash at the Ship Inn.

* The Courtyard Artist Studios will be open to the public over the weekend.

* There will be drop in art workshops at Harbour Arts Centre, guided nature walks, fashion workshops and children's activities.

* There will be a Craft Fair on Sunday at Harbour Art Centre.

The terrific story teller Tony Bonning will provide an afternoon session of stories and songs to delight children young and old at the Harbour Arts Centre on Sunday, 3.

* On Sunday there is a shared church service at 12.30pm in a marquee. The Model Boat Club is inviting visitors to the Model Boat Races at the Boating Pond in the Beach Park on Sunday afternoon.

* Impact Arts is running a Bunting Competition leading up to the weekend and the bunting will be displayed on the harbourside throughout the weekend.

* Local restaurants, inns and cafes are participating in the Big Lunch event on Sunday 3.
