THE REGENERATION of Pennyburn will take an exciting leap forward as residents gather to celebrate the demolition of an eyesore block of flats.
Irvine Housing Association plan to pull down the "Pennyburn Flats" - 48 flats located between Glenapp Place and Sundrum Place at Pennyburn, Kilwinning, replacing them with a new 2.1m social housing development of 17 two-bedroomed houses, four three-bedroomed homes and a wheelchair friendly two-bedroom bungalow.
Designed by Croft Goode Architects, contractors Lovell will move in later this month to begin work on the year-long scheme, which will meet the demand for more good quality social housing in the area.
