PUPILS from Abbey Primary School prepared to dig deep to plant around 1500 new bulbs at Eglinton Country Park, after community groups Breaking Ground and Friends of Eglinton applied for a CSV Action Earth grant.

The grant of £250 paid for daffodil, bluebell and snowdrop bulbs, which the pupils helped to plant on November 13.

The CSV Action Earth campaign runs from May to November, supported by SNH (Scottish Natural Heritage), offering grants up to £500 to cover plants, materials, tools and expenses.

The new plants are expected to be in bloom around late winter/early spring 2014.
