THERE was high drama in Irvine recently when an elderly woman was rescued from water at the beach park.
The incident occurred at around 3.08pm on Friday, April 11 when the woman was reported to be in trouble in the water at the park, across from the Magnum Leisure Centre.
Emergency services from the police, Scottish Fire and Rescue Service, Scottish Ambulance Service and the Ardrossan Coastguard raced to the scene immediately in response to the Special Service.
A member of the public is reported to have entered the water and assisted the woman to safety.
The woman was treated for hypothermia at the scene.
A spokesman from Ardrossan Coastguard said: “The Coastguard team were paged shortly after 3pm on Friday, April 11 to reports of a person in water near to Irvine beach park.
“The team attended in a multi-agency response along with North Ayrshire Police, Scottish Fire and Rescue Service and Scottish Ambulance Service.
“On arrival, an elderly woman was found ashore suffering from shock and effects of the cold where she received immediate first aid on the scene.
“The casualty was thereafter extracted from the beach in multi-agency effort to a nearby ambulance and conveyed to hospital.”
