HERE they are - this year’s Segdoune Royal Party.

The Times can reveal this year’s Queen elect is 11-year-old Katie Stevely from Abbey Primary School.

Her deputy is Erin Kirk, 11, of Whitehirst Primary and the remaining Royal Party members are Brody Tudhope, 11, of Blacklands Primary, Jenny Craig, 11, of Corsehill Primary, Abbie Buchanan, 11, of Pennyburn Primary, Kiera Hand, 11, of St Luke’s Primary and Rachel Wilson, 11, of St Winning’s Primary.

The elected party was revealed on Monday evening and all girls gave heartwarming speeches to a packed audience at The Playz in Pennyburn.

Donald Reid from Promoting Kilwinning, who organises the event, said every one of the girls gave fantastic and confident speeches and the judges had a tough decision.

He said: “We are absolutely delighted with the Royal Party this year.

“All the girls were put forward by their primary schools and each of them did their schools proud.

“We would like to thank all the schools for their help in choosing the Royal Party and we look forward to working with them throughout the coming year.” The Irvine Times was at The Playz event last night to see all the action unfold.

Well done to all the Royal Party on their appointments.

Marina Kerr, mum of Segdoune Queen Katie, said she and big sister Yasmin were 'absolutely thrilled’ she had been picked.

She told the Times: “We are absolutely delighted and so very proud of Katie. She is a very shy wee girl but over the past couple of years she has become an ambassador for Abbey Primary which has enabled her to come out of her shell a bit more.

“When she done her speech she was amazing, in fact all the girls were and they made everyone very proud. When they announced Katie had been picked as queen we were in floods of tears. It’s such a wonderful achievement for her. We can’t wait for the big day.”
