A NEW Post Office ‘local’ service is being launched in Pennyburn – with longer hours, including Sunday opening.

Pennyburn Post Office will close from Monday, April 18 for a major refurbishment, reopening on Friday, April 22.

There will be an open-plan counter in the store, where the Post Office terminal will sit alongside the till.

The Post Office service will be available during the store’s opening hours, 7am to 5.30pm Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday; 7am to 4pm on Wednesday and 7am to 12.30pm on Saturday and Sunday.

The opening hours which will increase by an extra 24 hours and 30 minutes of Post Office service every week will ensure that the branch is much more convenient with more choice of when to visit.

Dave Ogleby, Area Manager said: “We are making it easier for customers to get their cash, send and collect their mail and do their banking because we know how important these services are to local residents.

He added: “We are confident that this vibrant new-style Post Office at the heart of the local community will meet customer needs. This modernisation is part of a major investment programme, the largest in the history of the Post Office and will secure services for the future.”

The new Pennyburn Post Office will be delighted to welcome customers to the newly refurbished branch. Local residents and small business customers will be able to access a wide range of Post Office and mails services, including Special Delivery, Local Collect, home shopping returns, online banking cash deposits and withdrawals.

Other services include withdrawals using a Post Office Card Account, sending funds abroad using Moneygram, and customers can also pay bills, pre-order travel money, apply for travel insurance and top up mobile phones.

During the closure, Post Office services may be accessed from any convenient Post Office branch, including Kilwinning Post Office, McColls Retail Group, 110 Main Street, Kilwinning, or Hayocks Road Post Office, Hayocks Road, Stevenston.
