IRVINE charity Coastwatch are gearing up to host one of the biggest entertainment weekends of the summer.

The group are holding a huge family fun weekend on June 25-26 to raise money for the redevelopment of the iconic Pilot House and help towards the regeneration of the Harbourside area overall.

Run by volunteers, the charity plan to turn the Pilot House into a watch tower.

There are additional proposals to house a cafe, accommodation for groups and a training centre.

But Coastwatch rely on the community’s support and fundraising to make the plans a reality.

And this summer they are planning their biggest ever events to generate much-needed cash.

June 25 will see a whole host of activities and entertainments including an inflatable Hawaiian-themed bar, a stage with live bands, a marquee, dozens of craft stalls, home baking, an exhibition from the North Ayrshire Darts Academy and free food

The weekend will culminate the following day with a thrilling zip-slide from the Pilot House and across the Harbour.

But the group are advising that any thrillseekers willing to give it a go should sign up as soon as possible.

Irvine Times:

Registration costs £25 and those taking part must raise at least £100 in sponsorship.

But before all that, the second annual beach-clean will take place on Saturday, May 7 at Irvine Beach.

Bring gloves, wellies and chairs and put in a shift to tidy up the beach.

And it will all be worth it on the day as Vanilla Joes and The Ship Inn have kindly offered to provide free food and drink for everyone who takes part.

Irvine Beat FM will also be bringing their roadshow to the beach park.

And any musicians who want to put their talents on show can do so with a jamming session.

The beach clean will last between 11am and 1pm.

Coastwatch are always looking for new volunteers and any donations to help refurbish the Pilot House.
