AN IRVINE man is set to cycle from his hometown to Morecambe - in memory of his three children.
Andrew Gordon of Fullarton has been campaigning to raise money and awareness for the baby charity, Bliss, an organisation who help premature and sick babies.
Following the loss of his three children, Jackie, Tom and Grace, Andrew vowed to raise awareness of the charity.
The 50-year-old explained: “After my children passed away, a lot of people asked how my wife was doing - but it was also important to ask how I was doing, as it’s something which affects both parents. A lot of people perhaps don’t want to broach the subject but it’s important to raise awareness of children being born prematurely.”
Andrew is now getting ready to embark on the trek, which will see him cover an impressive 200 miles over two days, stopping off at Carlisle on the way.
He said: “The last time I did it, I didn’t really train, i just went for it. But this time round, I’m fitter and am gearing up for it.”
He added: “The aim is to raise around £3k and it is sitting at just over £2k, there was even an anonymous donation of £1k. which has been great.”
