A man has been ordered to carry out 60 hours of unpaid work after admitting to being in possession of cocaine in a McDonald’s car park.
Scott Blair, of St Michael’s Wynd in Kilwinning, pled guilty to one charge at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court last week.
Blair, 25, was found with the Class A drug within the car park of the fast food restaurant at Kilmarnock’s Bellfied Interchange on May 18.
The court heard that police were attending the area in relation to a road incident at around 12.30pm.
Officers went to speak to the occupants of a car and found Blair sitting in the front seat.
Due to a smell of cannabis, both Blair and a passenger were detained. Police conducted a search and found three wraps containing white powder.
Each wrap weighed 1.2grams and were found to contain around £40 worth of cocaine.
Sheriff Michael Hanlon ordered Blair to carry out 60 hours of unpaid work, discounted from 90 hours, as an alternative to a fine.
He told Blair: “This is a Class A drug and you have a conviction in dealing in drugs from years ago
“What I’m going to do is impose a Community Payback Order of 60 hours in the community to be carried out within three months.”
