A young man who ran into the middle of a busy road and attacked a man and his vehicle with a baton has been remanded in custody.
David Duffy, 19, of Kilwinning’s Fergushill Road, pled guilty to two charges at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court last week.
His plea of not guilty to a third charge was accepted by the prosecutor. Duffy behaved in a threatening or abusive manner on October 7 at Lochlibo Road in Kilwinning, near to the Torranyard Inn access road.
The 19-year-old shouted, swore, and jumped onto the roadway into the path of oncoming traffic, causing a man in a vehicle to take evasive action.
Duffy then acted in an aggressive manner and repeatedly struck the man’s vehicle with a baton or similar item.
Duffy also assaulted the man in the vehicle in that he repeatedly struck him on the head and body with a baton or similar all to his injury.
Sentence was deferred until next month for reports. Bail was refused.
